Tesla Offers Free Charging at All Superchargers In Europe

Tesla Europe is commemorating a decade since the inauguration of its first Supercharger stations on August 29, 2013.

The anniversary is being observed through a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), where the company recalls that exactly a decade ago, the initial six Supercharger stations were inaugurated in Norway.

Tesla’s expansion is evident; the network now spans 36 countries, encompasses over 1000 sites, and boasts more than 13,000 Supercharger connectors. This network facilitates seamless travel across diverse destinations.

The celebratory post is accompanied by a promotional video portraying Tesla users driving, charging, and enjoying their EVs at Supercharger stations throughout Europe.

To commemorate this milestone, Tesla is generously offering free charging on August 29, not only to Tesla owners but also to non-Tesla users across Europe. This extraordinary gesture extends to all Tesla Superchargers within the region.

Confirmation of this special offer arrived via another tweet: “Btw, Supercharging in Europe is free to all today! This includes locations open to all EVs (70% of our network!)”

This signifies that anyone, irrespective of whether they own a Tesla or not, can partake in celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Supercharger network in Europe by availing free charging for their electric vehicles.

This remarkable one-day promotion encompasses Superchargers in a multitude of countries, spanning Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.

To avail of the complimentary charging, charging sessions need to be initiated on August 29, commencing from 9:00 a.m. CEST and concluding by 23:59 CEST. Non-Tesla users can solely utilize Supercharger stations accessible to all EVs, constituting about 70 percent of the expansive European network.

A rush of EV enthusiasts flocked to Supercharger stations, sharing snapshots of their cost-free charging experiences. Nonetheless, discontent arose from those excluded from the offer in certain countries.

For instance, Tesla Owners Türkiye raised a valid query as to why Turkey, situated partly in Europe, was not included in the free Supercharging initiative. This query finds ground considering Israel, located entirely in Asia, is encompassed in the promotion. Several European nations also find themselves absent from the promotion, prompting discussions.
